A boring, but lucrative (thus I can afford safaris) loan processing job in the Southern California mortgage industry.

When I'm not pushing paper, I'm working on a 400 page manuscript about the time I lived in Cairo...still trying to find an agent/editor to read it.

Since I had not seen this thread in quite some time I wondered if all of the travel agents were coming clean and posting confessions about their day (or night) jobs.

Retired for 8 years now... my main job now is to spoil Nikki, my 13 year old granddaughter. Used to volunteer in her class but they don't need classroom volunteers in middle schools.

Worked for the same university for 30 years before retiring. Various jobs in the 30 years; applications programmer, systems programmer, systems analyst, business manager, financial analyst... There might be more titles somewhere in between, but can't remember them anymore.

This I must say is one of the long lasting threads.A very intresting one indeed.I have posted my reply in July.Though the topic inbetween has changed, the core issue of "who does what" seems eternal and intresting.Keep it going. Are you still in there Napamatt!

Still here, though between my peak time at work and planning for Mala Mala in January, I'm not around as much.

atravelynn Dec 5th, 2006 07:47 AM

I'm still hoping it will be around when I can answer no longer working. Maybe I'll just ttt every now and then for the next several years.

Momliz Jun 6th, 2007 07:24 PM

reviving an old and interesting thread - receptionist in a middle school, was a landscaper for many years before kids, hotel front desk before that but am still trying to figure out what to do when I grow up ;)

nothing seems to pay the bills enough to travel as much as I would like!

I've had a varied career; computer consultant, physicist, luge bum, but for the last 15 years I have been a college professor (physics and astronomy). During summer vacation I did research at NASA. This got me to neat places including Easter Island and I had some very interesting experiences such as spending some time with the US Declaration of Independence and Constitution. My summers changed in 2003 when I accepted an offer to be a visiting astronomer at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge. I returned in the summers of 2004 and 2006 and will again in 2008.
