New Year holiday
 

Based in the UK, I want to take my mum who is 75 to somewhere a bit special. Given that her mobility isnt great the quality of the hotel and surroundings are really important. She is always looking at Dubai and Oman in the brochures and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions of hotels they had been which blew them away and were doable from a budget point of view.

hotels which blow have most likely a price tag which is in the upmarket segment.

knowing your budget (excl. long-haul) and expected lenghts of travel should offer a more solid basis from which to start planning/suggesting.

Let me put my 'two cents' in for the Jumeriah Beach Hotel. On the beach in front of the Burj so the views are spectacular, but without the 'stuffiness' of the Burj (didn't like the ambiance there at all). The staff and the service were the best we've ever experienced. Nothing was too much trouble and the friendliness was overwhelming, in good way.
