This is exactly the point i wanted to make - in many cases guides r giving us interesting data but irrelevant to better understanding of a specific situation, while ignoring something which may be more significant...

Tjololo of Nat Geo and Mala Mala fame has always been pretty good at taking Baboon. In Dale Hancock's book about the Chellahanga female (written during the filming of Beauty and the Beast) he lists all the prey seen to be either killed or consumed by the Leopard, that list really gives a good insight into the Leopards opportunism. Their are lots of Francolin's etc among the Impala.
Lastly I remember a Leopard / Baboon interaction on the Mala Mala website

Here she was mobbed by Baboon's and so fled, a big male chased after her to the delight of the troop, only to be ambushed by the male Leopard she was consorting with.
