CC Africa Contest

I found this on their website..sorry if it has been posted already. The contest ends on Sept 10th.

Aside from being a contest, this is a blatant request for CCAfrica to get names and email addresses for other people. I think its very sad that I have to intrude on a minimum of 3 friends lives to finish the "contest" application.

Momliz Sep 4th, 2008 06:24 PM

yup, I was all excited about winning till I got to the part where they started asking for information on my friends - oh, well... I am not intruding on my friends.

Gritty Sep 4th, 2008 06:44 PM

I just put my name 3 times.

I find it interesting that they ask how many times in the past 3 years I've had a luxury safari experience, and the lowest number that I could choose was 1.

It can be family members....anyway I will do anything to get back to Africa and if CCafrica wants to help that is even better.

CarlaM Sep 5th, 2008 08:06 AM

If any of you win...I am available to be one of your 7 friends that gets to come along <):)

I am not intruding on my family either nor do I try to sell them soap. Its the principle of the thing. The odds of winning are so small. To me its bad marketing to make a qualification of entry to put in, even fake addresses. If its a good thing, and CCAfrica is, then word of mouth should do the trick. Even if after the entry is made, there is a place where you can, by choice, email friends and family, that is better than the way its structured. Its the worst form of advertising.

scootr29 Sep 6th, 2008 04:07 AM

I am sorry you feel that way...

Momliz Sep 6th, 2008 05:57 AM

I did end up doing the contest, and just didn't put in any addresses - CCAfrica will have to do their own work. My entry went through just fine without them. I also thought it was interesting that there was no "0" option for luxury travel experiences - shows you who the contest is aimed at, I guess.

That was just the nicest, most soothing contest I have ever entered, love the background the questions were on!

CarlaM Sep 6th, 2008 09:55 AM

I'm in! Scooter29, of course I will take you and your wife as my friends and who else......???? Hmmmm.

Good luck! Someone has to win! <):)

PredatorBiologist Sep 6th, 2008 04:07 PM

Please Carla!

Good luck, I hope a Fodorite wins.

atravelynn Sep 6th, 2008 04:09 PM

Those Scootr29 for the info. I am disappointed with the 3 names. Does it say the email address must be current to win?

You guys can use mine as one of the addresses.

atravelynn Sep 6th, 2008 04:27 PM

I just did the survey and it is not necessarily 3 names. Could be more or less. So I just put down my husband's name with an email we both use.

Good luck to you all and may the best fodorite win!

"I'm in! Scooter29, of course I will take you and your wife as my friends and who else......???? Hmmmm."

If I win you will be on my list....

atravelynn Sep 7th, 2008 01:00 PM

For you to win, it looks like the email addresses you submit must also take the survey.

Momliz Sep 7th, 2008 02:52 PM

I was under the impression that one does not have to do anything like buying goods, or submitting email addresses to win contests.

atravelynn Sep 8th, 2008 03:26 PM

Momliz, in the US that's true, but perhaps not for a company based outside.

Lynn,

I believe CCA has an office in NYC.

I decided to write to CCAfrica to see if they would respond to my comments and dislike of the format they chose. I do believe that they are a quality operation and I felt they needed to be given a chance to respond, which they did.

Their response is below.

"Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us about this campaign. Feedback is not always easy to hear, and I am sure it wasn’t easy for you to write, but we truly thank you for sharing your thoughts with us – it certainly hit a raw nerve. We value your insights and to be honest, it was a new foray for us into the world of e-marketing, but perhaps it wasn’t the most sensitive. We have learnt a lot and I am sorry to hear that you were offended in the process, that was certainly not our intention.

We have taken your feedback to heart and I am happy to tell you that we have changed our future strategies in this area and will never be embarking on this sort of campaign again.

My sincerest thanks for sending us your feedback."

I think this is a great response and in my eyes, they have redeamed themselves.

Mike
