Wonderful, wonderful , wonderful!!!! Thanks again for your marvelous trip report (now illustrated!) which imho, should be required reading for anyone contemplating a trip to any part of East Africa!
There is NOTHING quite like the Kazinga Channel anywhere else in Africa (maybe in the world?). |
Thx Progol , Cali. To upload select pics from the tons in the archives is taking time . A couple of days and I'll upload the view from my most amazing cottage in the kazinga and the lovely chimps of Kibale. Kindly bear with me.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Just read this in one sitting and am now late to my afternoon appointment! An astonishing and wonderfully detailed trip report. Loved all the links as well — thank you for that. I love Africa and have been to many countries, lots of them over and over. And while I was thinking of Uganda in the future, this trip report has moved the possibility way up! Thank you for allowing us this most phenomenal journey.

More wow wow wow and weebale nyo nyo, Inquest. A friend is planning a trip to Uganda for August already has permits) and referred her to yourthread.
Reweteera Safari Lodge? I will check it out immediately!! Those crater lakes are stunning! (I stay a night at Kyaninga Lodge near Fort Portal, where the stunning lake is supposedly the only truly safe bilharzia-free one to swim in.) These pix are making me super itchy to get back to the "Pearl Of Africa" !! What is it about Uganda, Inquest? Can you help me out here, because it is hard to put into words what is so unique about it. There is a down-to-earth welcome and warmth and openness among its people that, while omnipresent and wonderful in all of Africa, seems above and beyond in Uganda. |
Weebale nyo nyo Cali for all the encouragement I'm sure you'll be there soon. The Rweteera Safari Park was pretty but I'm sure there are many more in the surrounds that are prettier with stunning views, including the Kyaninga, the one you stayed in. I have provided the links up thread of all the lodges and accommodation around the Kibale area. Each better than the other. The only thing is one can't vouch that the stay, service and food would remain the same over time. There is a likelyhood of them falling into bad times. So my advise is to check the latest feedback on sites like Tripadvisor before firming up on them.
I too am at a loss of words when it comes to Uganda. Its unexplainably magnetic. Its charming & beautiful, Its complete in every aspect coupled with warm endearing people, ever smiling. Also.within a short space of time one can travel into the deep impenetrable forests with magnificent apes to the savannah like grasslands which hold a plethora of wildlife to raging white-water cascading from the mighty unassialable mountains. The brilliant array of birds unmatched in any other country. All a heady mix. This is what makes Uganda special.
