Though more of a daytime hangout—especially Sunday when local families descend on the lovely beach—this spot keeps hopping into the night, thanks to vivacious Norwegian expats Hedda and Christian "Chrishi" Wienpahl. Sprawl on beach waterbeds in the shady Love Shack + Bar or on comfy chaises in the "stripper" lounge, replete with a pole for shimmying. Enjoy the righteous lounge mix (and mixology), the wildly popular movie nights, and the DJs on Sexy Saturday Nights. Browse Hedda's fun, funky HWD line of jewelry, which incorporates leather, coins, and found objects. Dine on salads, pizzas, sandwiches, and sushi as well as more substantial dishes like butterflied prawns in garlic-parsley sauce. Kids even have their own club with fresh-fruit smoothies. The adjacent Zenith Beach villa development has some spectacular units.
This happening beachfront nightspot merges with the handsomely recycled, rusting ruins of a former salt-storage chattel house (the lavatories are particularly creative, incorporating old depth meters and a reclaimed engine room). Turquoise tables and white chairs dot the multitiered, bleached-wood deck, all optimally placed for sunset viewing. DJs and live bands are on tap most nights; boaters often anchor at the dock, joining in the fun. The menu and drinks list conjure a Cannes in the Caribbean feel. Savory light bites (priced between $10 and $20) include fish tacos, ceviches, and lobster kebabs. Bottle service (but of course!) and a small but savvy wine list help to further lessen inhibitions.
The Water Department Barbecue is the informal name for a lively Friday-night jump-up that's run by two fellows (nicknamed the Pump Boys) from the local water department. Friday afternoons the tents go up, and the grills are fired. Cars line the streets, and the guys dish up fabulous barbecue ribs and chicken—as certain customers lobby to get their water pressure adjusted. It's a classic Caribbean scene.
A trendy and sophisticated bar located inside the Four Seasons, this is the spot for a relaxed, but upscale happy hour, quick pre-dinner drink, or nightcap. As the name implies there's an extensive list of rums (and rum tastings available), including the bespoke signature Crowned Monkey Rum—14 year-aged in single bourbon barrels—that's only available at Four Seasons Nevis. It's also a prime spot to perch yourself to enjoy the live music that often happens at the hotel.
Sushi, tapas, and 'tinis with 'tude are all on tap at this low-key, surprisingly classy hangout.
This Thai spot, a favorite happy-hour watering hole, is a second-floor eatery whose verandah offers views of the harbor and the activity on the Circus.
Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack is known for its sizzling Thursday-night bonfire parties (replete with fire-eaters) and its raucous karaoke Saturdays. For locals it's also a must-stop on the Friday-night liming circuit of Frigate Bay bars.
