Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Ermitage

The Ermitage is in an unprepossessing, sandstone-front building overlooking the lovely Plaza Tomás Gomensoro, and is a good, affordable choice if you want to be near the shore. It's in a calm residential zone a block from Pocitos Beach and is also a 10-minute drive from the Old City. You'll find plenty of guests sitting over a drink or playing cards in the wood-panel lobby—decorated with a large photo-mural of Playa Pocitos in 1928. Rooms are furnished with replicas of 1920s-style furniture and light fixtures—to reflect that gentler, more stylish era of city history.
