Fodor's Expert Review Gringo Bill's Boutique Hotel

Colla Raymi 104, Aguas Calientes, Cusco, Peru

Bill has hosted Machu Picchu travelers since 1979; his was one of the first lodgings in town and, with the fine stonework and original design, it remains a one-of-a-kind place to stay. Although it is not the cheapest of the fewer-frills options, it definitely has more character than most. Its central location makes it easy to get to, although the number of steps may put you off after a full day of hiking around the archaeological site. There are a wide variety of room options, some especially good for families.
