Hotels run the gamut in the Cusco and the Sacred Valley. On the low end are backpacker and no-frills spots to hang your hat. On the high end are five-star hotels that can cost more per night than some people’s monthly mortgages. Note that what are referred to as hostals here are often lovely low-cost bed-and-breakfasts. You can even find these in renovated colonial mansions, allowing you to get the authentic feel without spending a fortune. But for those who like to travel in style, you’ve got plenty of choices, and virtually all of them in Cusco are in historical buildings, many with Incan foundations. For the lushest options in the valley, check out the offerings in Urubamba.
