Perched on 10-foot-high rocks above Naranjos beach, with the Piedra River rolling past to meet the sea, this is the beach house of your dreams. The waves beating below the hotel's wooden decks are interrupted only by birdsong, and occasionally, the roar of howler monkeys from PNN Tayrona across the river. There are two further lodges, with river-facing rooms that are more spacious and serene, and have en suite bathrooms and air-conditioning. Delicious, varied meals are among the best along the coast and are served at a communal table, creating an intimate, familiar atmosphere. Barlovento deserves a long stay whether it's to soak up the unbeatable setting or explore neighboring Tayrona or the Palomino coast.
