Fodor's Expert Review El Fraile Ski Center

The only ski center in the Aysén region is located on Camino Lago Pollux, about 29 km (18 miles) outside of Coyhaique. There are two lifts for five slopes surrounded by native forest on the 1,600-meter (5,250-foot) Cerro Fraile. This small, government-run ski center has equipment available for rent, and there is a ski school. There are no accommodations, but there is a cafeteria on-site for meals. The season runs June through September.
