Fodor's Expert Review Chucao Lodge

The all-inclusive Chucao Lodge is a high-end way to experience fly-fishing and more at Lago Yelcho and other top spots in the Palena area. The lodge has a cozy large living room with fireplace, hot tub, and terrace looking out to wonderful views of Patagonian nature. Once a week the lodge chef prepares an asado, a Chilean-style lamb barbecue. You can opt for a daily or weekly rate, but either way it's all-inclusive, with meals, transport, and fishing included. Although it's focused on fly fishermen, the lodge recognizes the needs of non-fishermen---or the neglected families of fishermen---and offers horseback riding, visits to hot springs, and more.
