Fodor's Expert Review Mítico Puelo Lodge

Lago Tagua Tagua, Cochamó, Los Lagos, Chile

Built in 1991 as a private getaway for fly-fishing enthusiasts on the shores of Lake Tagua Tagua, this lodge is reached by boat or plane (the hotel has its own motorboat, and transfers are included in rates) and also offers activities like biking, horseback riding, trekking, and kayaking. Among the attractions around the lodge are the beautiful Tagua Tagua Park in the nearby El Salto Valley and Puelo Vineyards a few miles upstream, so guests can keep busy with a host of guided excursions. Rooms are basic and comfortable, with private bathrooms, queen or twin beds, central heating, and Wi-Fi. Superior rooms have terraces, and the one apartment sleeps six in three bedrooms.
