You're in for a late night if you want to sample the scene in Hanga Roa. There seem to be two sets of nightlife, the one that goes on at restaurants until around midnight, and the second one that starts around that time, or much later, at the local clubs, where it’s mainly locals, as tourists are off to bed to make the most of daylight hours on the island.
This dance club close to the airport appeals to both locals and visitors. The soundtrack is a mix of Latin and pop early in the night; later on at around 2 or 3 am, live bands play. There are two parts of the club: the outer, rustic part, and the inside, which could be a disco anywhere in the world.
