Hare Noi

Av. Hotu Matua s/n, Easter Island, Valparaíso, 2770000, Chile

A series of modern-yet-rustic constructions set on a gentle sloping hill on the drive out to Anakena Beach from the town of Hanga Roa is the home of five-star hotel Hare Noi, a name that means "our home," with words taken from Italian (Noi, our) and Rapa Nui (Hare, home). It's part of a small chain of luxury hotels and set up for guests to share common areas, in one case a living room that joins several rooms together. Rooms are smart and cozy, with large eucalyptus trunks used as columns to hold up high ceilings. A series of raised wooden walkways join rooms to the pool area—the scene of an umu, a type of clam bake—organic gardens, and the restaurant Motu Umanga, which warrants a visit even if you're not staying here, as young chef Esteban Gomez shows off his culinary skills with fish and other local ingredients, such as taro flavored with bacon.
