Fodor's Review

Two major metro lines cross under the busy Praça da Sé, the large plaza that marks the city's geographical center and holds its main cathedral. Migrants from Brazil's poor Northeast often gather here to enjoy their music and to purchase and sell regional items such as medicinal herbs, while street children hang out and try to avoid the periodic police sweeps to remove them.
