When to Go

January and February are Argentina's summer vacation months, meaning hotels get booked up and prices rise. Ironically, these two months coincide with rainy season, when flooding and/or landslides can block mountain roads. (The Salta–Cachi route is notorious for this.) Other busy times are winter break (July), Easter week, and moveable feasts such as Carnaval in the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Most facilities remain open year-round.
