Hotels

Hotels in the Northwest’s major cities tend to be modern and comfortable. Most accept credit cards; if you are paying in cash, however, do ask whether a discount is offered. Many estancias (ranches) in the foothills welcome guests and are listed with local tourist offices. Although the whole region has really started to open up to local and foreign tourism, chain hotels are few and far between. Instead, take advantage of a dazzling array of boutique hotels and estancias built—or reinvented—to reflect history and ever mindful of their location.
