Fodor's Expert Review Las Pizarras Bistró

$$$ Palermo Eclectic Fodor's Choice

Quirky and kitschy, this 40-seat hole-in-the-wall looks like any of hundreds of other neighborhood hangouts throughout the city. But take a look at the chalkboard-covered walls (las pizarras) and you'll know instantly this isn't your typical spot for cheap steaks and milanesas. Chef Rodrigo Castilla is one of the most unsung chefs in the city. He turns out a constantly changing, market-driven menu of a dozen plates of some of the most interesting, eclectic food you'll find in the area, making the local food cognoscenti very happy. There's an equally creative wine list. Pricing is civil, portions are huge, and the service can be a trifle slow, but it's worth the wait.
