Tours

Historic Yellow Bus Tours. Tours by park concessionaire Xanterra on restored bright-yellow buses from as far back as the 1930s offer more than a dozen itineraries throughout Yellowstone. It's an elegant way to learn about the park, and on warm days, the driver–tour narrator rolls back the convertible top. The tour lineup includes Evening Wildlife Encounters, Picture Perfect Photo Safari, and Wake Up to Wildlife, all longtime crowd-pleasers. Other tours, including some all-day ones that efficiently cover huge swaths of the park, are on newer buses. Tours depart from several park hotels. Xanterra also gives a variety of bus, boat, stagecoach, and other tours. 307/344–7311; www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com. From $42. June–Sept..
