Saratoga

Tucked away in a valley formed by the Snowy Range and Sierra Madre Mountains, Saratoga is a rarely visited treasure. Fine shopping and dining happily combine with elegant lodging options and a landscape that’s ideal for outdoor activities. This is a good spot for river floating and blue-ribbon fishing: the North Platte River bisects the region, and there are several lakes and streams nearby in the Medicine Bow–Routt National Forest. You can also cross-country ski and snowmobile in the area. The town first went by the name Warm Springs, but in an attempt to add an air of sophistication to the place, townsfolk changed the name to Saratoga (after Saratoga Springs, New York) in 1884.
