Fodor's Expert Review Whittaker's Bunkhouse Motel

30205 Hwy. 706 E, Ashford, Washington, 98304, USA

Inexpensive bunk spaces (available May–September) as well as large private rooms and a cottage are comfortable and come with a communal hot tub, a welcome amenity after a day of recreation. This 1912 motel once housed loggers and mill workers and in those days was referred to as "the place to stop on the way to the top." In the early 1990s famed climber Lou Whittaker bought and renovated the facility.
