Fodor's Expert Review Hardware Store
This all-day restaurant's unusual name comes from its former life as a mom-and-pop hardware shop—it occupies the oldest commercial building on Vashon, and certainly looks like a relic from the outside. Inside, you'll find a charming restaurant that's a cross between a bistro and an upscale diner. The cuisine is "Northwest Americana," with breakfast highlights like rustic French toast and smoked salmon Benedict; sandwiches, salads, and burgers for lunch, and for dinner, hearty old standbys like buttermilk fried chicken, pasta, meat loaf, and grilled salmon. Almost everything on the menu can be made gluten-free. A decent wine list focuses on Northwest and Californian wines.
