Fodor's Review

Your favorite Jewish grandma might be thrown for a loop by this precocious reboot of her staple dishes—what, regular Reubens were too boring, they had to fry the fillings into an egg roll with Russian dressing dipping sauce?—but she will be won over by the traditional matzo ball soup at this popular new comfort-food outpost. Even when she's not in town, the younger set will get a kick out of owners Nick and David Wiseman's take on favorite New York deli items, like the pastrami lo mein made with wheat noodles, for a bargain price during happy hour. (One more touch Grandma will appreciate: the initials in the title hark back to a long-departed local Jewish chain, District Grocery Stores.)
