Fodor's Expert Review DGS Delicatessen

$$ Dupont Circle and Logan Circle Deli

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Your favorite Jewish grandma might be thrown for a loop by this precocious reboot of her staple dishes, but she will be won over by the traditional matzo ball soup (and, yes, it serves traditional Reubens, too). The younger set will also get a kick out of owners Nick and David Wiseman's take on favorite New York deli items, like the pastrami lo mein made with wheat noodles, for a bargain price during happy hour. One more touch Grandma will appreciate: the initials in the title hark back to a long-departed local Jewish chain, District Grocery Stores.
