Fodor's Expert Review Bayou
New Orleans and Washington, D.C., might seem to have little in common, but both cities share a common love of carousing after hours and belt-stretching cuisine. The urban marriage is consummated beautifully at this two-level po'boy palace, where live bands every weekend turn the top floor into a mini–Bourbon Street. Down below, though, the food rules—such as a pork chop done right by its andouille sausage accompaniment and a fried-green-tomato appetizer hearty enough to join the entrée menu. Daily specials, such as Wednesday gator night, round out the down-home picture.
