Why We Like It

The Westin may not be as flashy as some of its more luxurious neighbors, but it’s a super friendly, comfortable hotel. And the fact that it’s so fitness-friendly is huge. The Peloton bikes in the fitness center are perfect for inclement weather, and on certain days a local runner takes guests out on sightseeing runs catered to your preferred pace. That said, we also have to mention the courtyard, which makes us feel like we’re in Italy with its fountain and greenery; it’s the perfect place to pull up a couple chairs and while away the afternoon with good friends.

Fodor's Expert Review

At first glance, the Westin, in the quiet West End neighborhood near Georgetown, seems dated in color, design, and style. But there’s more than meets the eye here, including a fabulous wellness program, friendly service, and a striking courtyard. It’s a good choice for business travelers, families (who love the kids’ club and swimming pool), and dog owners (dogs are given their own Heavenly day bed).

Tip The Westin has a Tangent business room with smart technology, which anyone can rent by the hour for private business meetings, interviews, or brainstorming sessions.

Room

The guest rooms are fairly generic with modern, earth-hued décor, but you’ll sleep well in the signature Heavenly bed and with the complimentary lavender balm to place on your pillow. Rooms boast different configurations due to the building’s U shape. The guest rooms measure between 300 and 450 square feet, with several suite options, including the multi-roomed Royal suite and Presidential suite (with a pool table!).

Bathroom

The large marble bathrooms are the hotel’s pride and joy, with a soaking tub, separate shower, cozy bathrobes, and Westin White Tea Heavenly bath products.

Lobby

The rotunda lobby feels straight out of the seventies, with its olive green and brown décor. A circular booth in the center provides private seating arrangements.

Pool

There’s an outdoor swimming pool, beloved by kids in summer.

Gym

The good size, 24-hour fitness room includes two Peloton bikes, cardio equipment (treadmills, elliptical machines, rowing machine) and weights.

You Should Know There’s no need to pack your fitness clothes when you come to the Westin. For $5 a day, you can borrow workout clothes and shoes (and keep the socks).

Dining

The Caucus Room Brasserie-Steakhouse, with a French-bistro-inspired menu, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The second restaurant, Bóveda, calls itself a Latin Speakeasy, serving yummy, pan-Latin small plates in a cozy, chic setting of reclaimed wood, stone, and tile decor, pewter filigree lanterns, and a choice of raised booths, banquettes and communal table for seating, all set to the vibe of Latin music.

Drinking

Bóveda has a bar area with a popular happy hour.
