Fodor's Review

Look for the classic red neon sign (one of only a handful still permitted in Vermont) at the main corner in downtown Wilmington: Dot's is a local landmark. After Hurricane Irene ravaged the building in 2011, the community rallied to save its traditional country diner. Donations poured in, the structure was entirely renovated and fortified against future flooding, and by 2013 Dot's was back in business. It remains a friendly place where locals and skiers pack the tables and counter to order favorites like chicken cordon bleu (stuffed with ham and cheese, then breaded and fried), barbecue ribs, and home-style roast beef. The Berry-Berry pancakes with four kinds of berries are de rigueur for breakfast, which starts at 5:30 am. A bowl of chili is perfect for lunch.
