Fodor's Expert Review Homestyle Hostel
119 Main St., Ludlow, Vermont, 05149, USA
Vermont natives Eliza Greene and Justin Hyjek opened their updated inn and restaurant in 2014, renovating a 19th-century home on Main Street to offer the kind of food and housing they grew to love while working on a hostel-meets-farmstead in the hills of Colombia. A mix of shared and private rooms offers relatively affordable pricing without sacrificing quality design and comfortable linens. The built-in restaurant and cocktail program are worth a trip alone—they became so popular with locals and travelers that, in 2017, the couple bought and refurbished a second location directly across the street called Main and Mountain, a modern motel and bar.
PROS
- farm-fresh restaurant on-site
- memory-foam mattresses and Egyptian cotton sheets
- central location and wraparound porch
CONS
- the restaurant and bar have limited seating
- only some rooms have en suite bathrooms
- the rest are private, though down the hall
- 8 rooms are limited, though offer a variety of options
