Fodor's Expert Review Barnard Inn Restaurant and Max's Tavern
The dining room in this 1796 brick farmhouse exudes 18th-century charm, but the food is decidedly 21st century. Former San Francisco restaurant chef-owner Will Dodson creates inventive three-course prix-fixe menus with specialties like seafood curry and Wiener schnitzel with lemon-caper sauce. In the back is a relaxed local favorite, Max's Tavern, which serves some of the same dishes à la carte, along with upscale pub fare.
