Salt Lake's first museum devoted to the convergence of science, art, and technology opened in late 2011 and has become a bucket-list item for any family visit to Salt Lake. Although it hosts large-scale national touring exhibits like the Dead Sea Scrolls, this is quintessentially a hands-on museum dedicated to inspiring children to explore. You'll be greeted by a main-floor lab space where revolving artists in residence offer a menagerie of free programs daily where kids can sculpt with clay, draw, design, or write. Head upstairs to the Tinkering Garage, where volunteers help you build with repurposed household objects, deconstruct electronics, create electric circuits (including a radio), and much more. Throughout this converted library building, exhibits highlight Da Vinci's influence on arts and science, great inventions from Utah (including Philo Farnsworth and the television), and climate change.
