Although businesses and homes stretch in all directions, Downtown's core is a compact, several-block area that contains most of the city's most prominent hotels, plus a good number of high-profile restaurants, historic buildings, theaters, and bars. Although it sounds like it might just be another name for downtown, Central City is a larger quadrant that extends east and south from Downtown, as far as 1300 East and 1300 South. This area contains a mix of residential and commercial pockets and some charming shopping and eating districts, such as Trolley Square and 9th and 9th, and also gracious Liberty Park. Extending south from Downtown along the Main Street and State Street corridor, you'll find some more recently emerging hives of dining as well as craft breweries and distilleries, including the Granary/Ballpark area.
