Fodor's Expert Review Historic 25th Street
Named one of the "10 Best Streets" in the United States by the American Planning Association, this quaint section of downtown Ogden has been the centerpiece of a 30-year urban-renewal initiative. A fun place to hang out for a couple of hours, 25th Street retains the color, flavor, and vitality of its 19th-century roots without the grime and crime that once made it infamous. From Union Station to Washington Boulevard, this three-block stretch includes more than a dozen restaurants, plus galleries, boutiques, and more. Historical markers tell the story of the rough pubs, brothels, and gambling houses that were the anomaly in heavily Mormon Utah a century ago. Relax, though, it's both safe and family-friendly today. The Historic 25th Street Business Association frequently sponsors special events that create a festival atmosphere.
