Fodor's Expert Review Crockett Hotel
320 Bonham St., San Antonio, Texas, 78205, USA
Built in 1909 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this hotel (named for frontiersman Davy Crockett) is a relic of turn-of-the-20th-century San Antonio. Location is the big selling point here: you're 10 steps from the Alamo, River Walk, and many sights. The seven-story, light-filled, sandstone-brick atrium lobby with leather club chairs is impressive; some rooms look out onto it. Rooms are contemporary and spotless, though a bit bland in the decor department.
PROS
- Great location
- new furnishings
CONS
- Immediate area packed with tourists
- bland room decor
- views nothing to write home about
