Fodor's Review

You’ll want to visit the Long Center as much for what’s happening inside as the ultra-modern (and, if it’s not too soon to say, iconic) exterior. The site officially opened in 2008, thanks to grants and funding from a large number of private donors. Today, it’s home to lyric opera, ballets, and concerts, and hosts many of Austin’s prime foodie events, including the Austin Wine and Food Festival. Other events include the Engage Breakfast Series of current affairs discussions and various traveling exhibits. The City Terrace on the grounds offers up one of the best views of Downtown, taking in the river and Auditorium Shores. Tours are available every Wednesday at noon.
