Berry Hill, with just 500-some residents, has one of the highest number of recording studios per capita for a neighborhood: in its 1-square-mile area, around 30 recording studios call Berry Hill home. Northwest of Berry Hill, Melrose is a growing neighborhood, with shops and housing blossoming on 8th Avenue. Melrose also features one of the city’s richest pockets of antiques and vintage resale stores, all centered around 8th Avenue and Wedgewood. Both areas feel a bit suburban with chain and big box stores, but this doesn't limit the number of independently owned businesses that flourish here. Diverse cuisine abounds with a number of internationally inspired restaurants. The laid-back attitude of the area creates welcoming dining experiences without long waits or required reservations. The eclectic yet functional neighborhood attracts young professionals, families, and musicians alike.
