Fodor's Expert Review Hampton Inn Vanderbilt

1919 West End Ave., Nashville, Tennessee 37203, United States See on Map

Mary Margaret Harris

The rooms at this contemporary inn near Vanderbilt University are colorful and spacious. There's a hospitality suite for social or business use.

Clean and comfortable rooms are made cozy by dark woods and richly-colored accents. Travelers can select a king or two doubles in one of the 171 rooms. Suites are significantly larger and include a sleeper sofa and bar sink in addition to the king or double beds. All rooms have a sitting space and desk at which to work as well as a television, fridge, and microwave.

YOU SHOULD KNOW The suites are in studio fashion; therefore, there are no separate rooms.

The clean, beige bathrooms are quite large. Guests will find a shower-tub combo. Handicap accessible rooms and bathrooms with grab bars are also available.

The lobby has been updated with comfortable, modern furnishings to allow ample space for guests to congregate. Tasteful decor choices and pops of color make for an inviting environment. The simple front desk is brought to life with live plants and a touch of the Music City with black-and-white photographs.

Additional seating is down two steps from the front desk.

The outdoor pool is small, but large enough for morning laps or for cooling off on a warm afternoon.

The fitness center includes more than many hotels. With cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, medicine balls, and exercise balls, guests can keep trim on the road.

As with all Hampton Inns, a hot, complimentary breakfast is served daily. Guests in a hurry can take a "On the Run" breakfast bag with them for a healthy and balanced start to the day.

Some guest rooms have kitchens, which allows guests to do more than store a few snacks.
