Fodor's Review

Located within the park at Tremont, this residential environmental education center offers a variety of programs year-round for student groups, teachers, and families. The adult and teacher programs include photography, crafts, naturalist certification, and backpacking nature trips, with costs from $50. Summer camp programs are offered for children 9–17, starting at $539. Family camp weekends and weeks are also offered. Many programs book up early. Go to the Tremont website to download a programs brochure. Accommodations at Tremont are in Caylor Lodge, a heated and air-conditioned dormitory that sleeps up to 125 people, and also in tents on platforms. Meals are served family-style in a large dining hall. Some 4,000 students and adults attend programs at the Institute each year.
