Fodor's Expert Review Coda del Pesce
On Isle of Palms, Ken Vedrinski's homage to the sea is not to be missed. Sure, it's a hike from downtown, but it's worth it because the chef's take on seafood is—dare we say it—seaworthy. The crudo (raw fish) with tangerines, wine vinegar, and pickled garlic makes an excellent starter before you dive into blue crab with parsley, lemons, and bread crumbs or clams with preserved tomatoes and spicy peppers. (Local waterman Clammer Dave provides the main ingredient.) If the chef is around, he'll be more than happy to make wine recommendations and provide some entertaining conversation. A bonus: this tiny restaurant has one of the rare ocean views from its second story patio. Known for: upscale seafood with Italian fare; oceanfront fine dining; excellent wine list.
