Fodor's Expert Review 82 Queen
This landmark mainstay continues to thrive, even amid the restaurant boom around it. Wildly popular as a social meeting ground in the 1980s, it has settled down into its primary role as an atmospheric, fine-dining establishment. Multiple dining areas in both indoor and garden settings make this a great place to linger, perhaps under a gazebo or in an elegant, art-rich (and air-conditioned) room inside the historic residence. Also notable is the genuinely caring service and extensive wine list featuring new varietal blends (no house wine here), which have earned it high and consistent praise. As always, its food has strong Southern leanings, with seafood highlights including Charleston bouillabaisse; don't miss the creamy grits (perfection) or authentic fried green tomatoes. Known for: one of the city's iconic she-crab soups; romantic dining; in the heart of the Lower King area.
