Major chain hotels are certainly represented in Rhode Island, but boutique hotels, small bed-and-breakfasts, and historic inns provide a more intimate experience. Rates vary seasonally: in Newport, for example, a winter stay often costs half what it does in summer. Many inns in coastal towns are closed in winter.
