Fodor's Expert Review George's of Galilee
Owned by the same family since 1948, this local landmark near Salty Brine State Beach serves traditional Rhode Island favorites, including clambakes and "stuffies" (stuffed quahogs), and has a raw bar. Get your fried and broiled seafood here at reasonable prices: George's buys its ingredients directly from fishermen in Galilee, whom they list daily on their website. A recent renovation elevated the downstairs dining area and bar from beach-bar casual to low-key elegant, but summer traditions remain, including the takeout clam shack, live music on the deck on weekends, and beach volleyball on Monday night.
