Fodor's Expert Review Coast Guard House
Built in 1888 as a U.S. Life Saving Service Station, this restaurant has been nearly destroyed twice by storms—by Hurricane Bob in 1991 and Superstorm Sandy in 2012. A renovation after Sandy relocated the dining area and gave it a minimalist design, affording diners an even more spectacular view of the ocean. The deck, a great hangout, remains, and a new terrace overlooks the ocean. The cuisine also was refreshed, the emphasis now on the raw bar and on local seafood dishes, with burgers, steaks, and pasta also on the menu. Parking can be difficult during high season, but there's free valet service.
