This family-oriented summer destination stretching 7 miles from Watch Hill to Weekapaug has a sandy beach the color of brown sugar. From waterslides to kiddie rides, the town's several amusement parks provide countless diversions. You can also hop on a Jet Ski, paddle a kayak, or find a spot for sunbathing. Evenings bring concerts and movies on the beach, and there are shore-side festivals in the spring and fall.

The Native American name for this sandy strip of beachfront means "Red Fish," referring to the Atlantic salmon common to the Pawcatuck River; the entire Westerly area, settled in 1661, once bore this name.
