Fodor's Expert Review Jamestown FiSH
This upscale Jamestown restaurant with a noteworthy wine list showcases the ocean's underappreciated species, like sable, char, and cuttlefish. The adventurous menu changes often to reflect available fresh seafood and produce. The spicy house-pureed soup made with fish, tomato, saffron, and fennel, garnished with a crusty Gruyère cracker, is a refreshing alternative to New England clam chowder, though you can get that here, too. The downstairs dining room is done up with white table linens and blue Italian water glasses, and has a gas fireplace. The upstairs bar area has a patio offering great views of Newport Bridge when lighted at night. Patio seating is first-come, first-served, though you can make reservations for the indoor dining room. Area residents are big fans of the off-season Sunday brunch, served mid-October–late May.
