Fodor's Expert Review Dock Street West

$$ University City and West Philadelphia Pizza

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Housed in a handsome redbrick firehouse built in the early 1900s, Dock Street serves up wood-oven pizzas, fish-and-chips, vegan burgers, and seasonal salads to both residents and students in West Philly. The six taps and one cask spout house-brewed beers that range from approachable flagships (Bohemian Pilsner, Rye IPA) to experimental one-offs (a stout brewed with smoked goat brains; a barrel-aged saison whose yeasts were stimulated by the music of the Wu-Tang Clan). The adjoining Cannery space features more draft lines, craft cocktails, and chill lounge space.
