Fodor's Expert Review Folk Craft Center
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
The Folk Craft Center includes a museum, shops, and a bed-and-breakfast, housed in 18th- and 19th-century buildings. The museum presents an authentic overview of the lifestyles and culture of the Pennsylvania Germans, with displays of pottery, glassware, toys, and household implements. An antique loom is on exhibit in the main building. Woodworking and print-shop demonstrations show early techniques. In spring and summer the ornamental and herb gardens come alive with color. Amish quilts and pillows, hooked rugs, punched tinware, and other crafts are for sale in the shops. The B&B, in an 1851 farmhouse, has three rooms filled with handmade furnishings and crafts.
