Fodor's Expert Review Best Western Gettysburg Hotel 1797

Built before the Civil War, this hotel is in the heart of the downtown historic district. Prominent guests have included Carl Sandburg, Henry Ford, and General Ulysses S. Grant. During the Cold War the hotel served as President Eisenhower's national operations center while he was recuperating at his nearby home. Rooms are furnished in traditional style, and suites have fireplaces and whirlpool baths. There's a cannonball from the battle that's still embedded in the brick wall across the street.
