Fodor's Expert Review New Sammy's Cowboy Bistro
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Ardent foodies have been known to make reservations weeks in advance, especially for weekends, to dine in this stucco Southwest-style roadhouse a few miles northwest of Ashland. Surrounded by orchards and gardens, the menu finds its way into the exquisite—and mostly farm-to-table—Northwestern fare with typical dishes from the seasonal menu ranging from green-garlic flan with spiced Washington spot prawns, cherry tomatoes, avocado, and epazote to pan-roasted king salmon with garden gazpacho, three basils, and tapenade. The desserts, such as plum Linzer torte with plum ice cream, are as visually stunning as they are tasty.
It's a bit easier to score a table at lunch.
