Fodor's Expert Review Blue Goose
This festive tribute to the food of the Southwest occupies the former, long-running Esparza's space and retains that establishment's homey look with the same wooden booths and long tile bar, but with turquoise Sia symbols and cow-skull wall sconces that speak to Blue Goose's mix of New Mexican, Texas, and interior Mexican recipes. Fire-roasted green chilies from Hatch, New Mexico are used in the absurdly enormous cheeseburger and in several other dishes, including a hearty mac-and-cheese taco. Try the smoked chicken wings with chili-lime butter, and the tacos stuffed with tender brisket. The strawberry-basil margarita is a favorite among the extensive drinks list, which includes plenty of local drafts, too.
