Chestnut Street Inn

Chestnut Historical District, 176 E. Chestnut St., Asheville, North Carolina, 28801, USA

Even in a city with many excellent B&Bs, Chestnut Street Inn stands out for its location—a short stroll from several good restaurants, within easy walking distance of downtown, yet situated in the quiet, charming Chestnut Hill Historic District away from the city’s bustle—and its multilingual innkeepers Emilie and Arturo, who are knowledgeable, engaging, and enthusiastic boosters of their adopted city. Breakfasts start with fresh-brewed organic coffee and might feature Monte Cristo sandwiches, crepe-waffles, or pancakes with local blueberries (the inn is vegan- and vegetarian-friendly, too), and a “port of the week” is offered in afternoons, along with tea and fresh-made cookies. There are seven rooms in this beautiful restored 1905–06 Colonial Revival House, with a large suite in an adjoining cottage.
